Specification details – CPU: Intel Core i-5 4690K, GPU: AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB, GPU: Shapphire, RAM: 16GB, Motherboard: Gigabyte Mini ATX, CPU Cooler: Corsair CX600, OS: Windows 10. Recently, my FPS has dropped while playing Witcher 3 in high settings; League of Legends FPS has fallen from 200 to 100, sometimes reaching 80. It’s becoming quite slow and bothersome. I’m sure my system is still performing well, but the lag is affecting my experience. Need advice or help!
I would attribute the issue to Windows 10. It's a fresh OS that's expanding, consuming more resources with each update. Windows is notorious for this behavior. Keep track of your system's resources using tools like MSI Afterburner, and be aware that psycoUSA mentioned your card might be throttling due to heat.
Check your current temperature with MSI Afterburner and turn on OSD for real-time monitoring during gameplay.
Instead of thermal paste, review your temperatures using software such as MSI Afterburner.
Additionally, memory performance will be reduced to half of its rated rate. This means 1600MHz RAM will seem as 800MHz, and 7000MHz VRAM will display at 3500MHz.
