Generally all games run smoothly on my PC except for Fortnite and DbD, which both rely on Unreal Engine and share the same problem. Each time I launch the game and open the first mathc, my FPS plummets from over 200 to 15 or below. In the lobby everything works fine but once I exit the battle bus or enter the map in DbD, the issue emerges. The tricky part is that both my dedicated GPU and integrated graphics reach full load even though the IGPU isn’t connected or assigned anything. After about 30 seconds to a minute the FPS drops noticeably, returning to normal only after a second, and this only happens during the first match after launching. If I keep playing, everything returns to normal. I’m using an R9 7950 X and an RX 7900 XT, drivers are up to date, and no unusual software or mods are installed.

Generally, frequent large FPS drops occur because files are loaded most of the time, but they typically happen only a few times before performance improves significantly.

My setup is fully high-end featuring the newest and quickest SSDs. This shouldn't be typical. In other games, I don’t encounter this problem. Also, lag persists after exiting the game, and my cursor behaves as if it has a 1000ms delay even when the game is closed.

Jedi survivor struggled with poor performance, I experienced low frame rates during loading when starting the game, but my GPUs weren’t both at full capacity and cursor movement was affected. In Fortnite’s pre-game lobby, everything works smoothly until I start the actual game. This issue didn’t occur a few weeks ago either.

You might enjoy a premium SSD, but it won't match the speed of RAM. It's unclear what advice to give, yet even with a top system, loading files can lead to temporary FPS drops. Remember, many SSDs feel fast because they use RAM inside, not just the NAND chip itself.

If the issue stems from slow SSD or RAM, then the SSDs and RAM should be functioning at typical speeds while the two GPUs remain at full capacity.

It seems there might be another problem at play. Even with a high-end setup like your R9 7900X, RTX 4090 and 64GB RAM, you can still experience FPS drops when loading assets into VRAM or RAM, especially if the game isn't optimized for quick loading. Generally, it's better for the game to load before you start playing, though some titles don’t follow that pattern. Notably, the latest Call of Duty version is known for loading textures mid-game and causing performance issues.
