Performance constraints of hardware.
Hello, yesterday I upgraded my internet speed using an Asus RT-AC66U B1. In tests I reached about 200 Mbps, and when bypassing the router it hit 500 Mbps. I’m unsure if there are software or hardware restrictions affecting performance. Should I focus on specific features when choosing a new router to avoid caps? The port claims compatibility, but the specs don’t mention any limits.
I discovered this mention in a recent review. It highlights performance improvements with hardware acceleration, and when turned off it matches the speeds you observed. Searching the manual via Ctrl+F didn’t yield helpful results.
Thank you for the response. I checked the router settings, disabled Quality of Service, and it improved to 280, which might be a good adjustment.
