Hello, your friend is facing some performance issues with his system. Over the past few days, his frame rate has dropped by 20-30%. The hardware details are as follows: operating system is Windows 10, CPU is Intel i7-10700K, GPU is ASUS TUF RTX 3080, RAM is 32 GB HyperX Fury Black, and the power supply is Corsair RM850x. The case is clean and dust-free. He’s tried updating drivers, switching GPUs, reinstalling Windows, and even running an OCCT power test on the PSU, but nothing has resolved the problem. The temperatures remain stable, and the GPU isn’t overheating under load. We’re at a point where we need advice to fix this. Appreciate your help!

Open the GeForce Experience overlay, navigate to Settings → HUD layout, choose Performance and adjust to Advanced. Enter game mode and press Alt + R, then wait for the overlay to load before taking a screenshot.

The power draw looks too low. Could you follow this guide on logging with HWiNFO and then just run Prime95 and Furmark for a stress test? This logs a lot more sensors so we might spot something. Attach the .csv here.

I included an SSD? Perhaps it cut down the 16 PCIe lanes to 8 for the GPU. Still, that shouldn’t slow down your graphics card, right? Just a thought. Edited Aug 27, 2023 by leclod

I completed the test per the instructions and attached the .csv file named logging.CSV.

A new NVMe storage device was installed recently (the 970 EVO PLUS), yet I’ve integrated the identical SSD into my setup without any slowdowns. (My processor remains unchanged, though there’s a slight difference in memory type—B460-F versus the friend’s B460-H.)

Remove the SSD and you'll understand—my check showed this shouldn't happen. The bandwidth isn't shared. Updated the BIOS.

Verified if there was an update available for the BIOS, confirmed the newest version is installed (1620).

Throughout the stress test, everything appears excellent. Voltages, temperatures, power consumption, and load handling all look fine. I also checked other components and everything seems okay. It's consuming significantly more power than shown in the overlay during gameplay, but now it looks normal. In the screenshots you mentioned a 3070 instead of a 3080 as referenced earlier—it's still relatively low compared to what I expected. During Furmark, it's drawing around 230W (to anyone who reads this, yes, software readings aren't perfect, but they should match real sensors). It will draw more power during Furmark than during gameplay, though not as much as the screenshots suggest when the GPU is at full capacity. I’m curious if there’s a power state issue in the driver. If that’s the case, it would restrict the GPU by supplying less power, making it appear to run at maximum load, but it would actually operate at the percentage the limit allows. DDU should have addressed this already. Would you like me to run DDU again and test with this driver? Also, could you verify if the Nvidia overlay also shows around 210-230W during Furmark? That way we can confirm consistency across sources.
