I've observed my frame rates dropping in CSGO lately. Previously, I consistently hit 300+ FPS, but now it's around 140-230. I've attempted a 20% overclock without success. Since I'm using a custom resolution, could that affect performance? My specs are i5-6600k GTX 960, 144Hz monitor at 60Hz, launch options set to high, Novid, 4 threads, nojoy with autoexec, frequency 144, resolution 1080p.

It matters because staying above the refresh rate ensures smooth visuals and prevents visible stuttering or tearing.

It's a timeless issue that's easily solved by speed. It might seem irrelevant, but it often points to Valve's ongoing issues.

It seems to be related to the latest changes. Performance often drops after updates, so verify that multi-core rendering is enabled.

I thought it was probably just Valve again. Thanks for confirming it would be optimization work. Still, an original character might help improve performance a bit. I've only done an OC on one PC so I'm not sure what real gains I can expect from a 20% increase (from 3.5gh to .43gh).

It varies based on whether it's CPU or GPU limited, so a CPU optimization won't always help with the game engine

Have you executed any performance tests? Does your device operate normally? Have you maintained your system by clearing dust or filters?
