I purchased a 64GB SSD (two 32GB modules) from G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5 6400 CL32 with 1.4V for my i5 13600K running the Z690 Unify X with the latest BIOS AE. I enabled XMP and completed a stress test using TM5 anta777 configuration, which passed successfully. One drive reached 95.8°C during the test—was this typical?

I've got the same board. Small tip, roll back to AB unless you're running a 14700K, since it's overall just a more stable BIOS revision than AE. Only real advantage of the AD and AE revisions is the updated microcode for the 14700K, otherwise the AB BIOS is currently kind overall. That is very high, though I'd have some reservations about whether that reading is actually real. First off, the Richtek PMIC used is known to have a pretty buggy temperature sensor and display false values all the time, especially in Windows 11 in my experience. Second, HWMonitor is also known for just giving false readings, so that might also be causing some issues. If that is indeed a real temperature reading, put a fan on those sticks at once as that is in the danger zone for temps.

I understand that. I've seen HWMonitor display 500kW for the max CPU power when my old build with an i7-9700 was off. It performs well when it runs, though the readings can sometimes seem odd.

It's true the Richtek PMIC OP tends to give unexpected and unusual readings. I've noticed similar behavior with other PMICs, where they suddenly report voltages like 4V without reason. There are also reports of random temperature readings—sometimes a few consistent ones like 47.8°C, but often the 95.8°C value seems arbitrary. The temperature data from HWInfo is generally trustworthy, though the minimum and maximum values don't provide much useful information.

The latest readings show temperatures around 80°C, while the hardware spec lists a maximum of 95.8°C. You should check if your device supports higher temperatures or contact support for guidance on updates or returns.

The maximum temperatures reported with the Richtek PMIC are misleading due to sensor issues. Even at around 80°C, it rarely exceeded that. It's still the highest temperature I'd accept. I wouldn't return the product, and there doesn't seem to be an available firmware fix.
