Could the issue stem from a failing CPU? A possible sign is difficulty unpacking compressed files, such as the Nvidia drivers installer EXE. It's strange that this symptom appeared immediately after the upgrade. Do you have a functional CPU to test? You might ask a friend if they have one. Particularly for an Alder Lake 12th Gen, it would help if someone with one is available.
Maybe the CPU has already started showing signs of oxidation with this model. It's been working well until now, so I assumed I wasn't affected by that batch.
Check your Ethernet network card for any packet loss. CRC errors often indicate a dead network card. Ensure no more than zero dropped packets are present. Consider switching to an alternative Ethernet card such as PCI-e or WiFi 6/7 if needed, and try downloading the software again using the new interface.
