The previous method was too complicated and overwhelming for many users, with excessive text, numerous steps, and technical jargon. With Cortana, the process feels more friendly, straightforward, and less constrained by long instructions. Interestingly, if you lack the necessary hardware—like sound drivers or an updated system—you can revert to the older setup.

I’m starting to realize that many DIY PC builders overlook how small their audience is compared to the overall user base. Most people dislike being forced to configure numerous settings upfront, while Microsoft tailors experiences for the majority. In some situations, I’d prefer not to have everything configured during initial setup—especially if it’s in the OS settings and isn’t essential for starting the system. If it’s not crucial for launch, just skip it and handle it later instead of during the first boot process.
