Hello everyone, I'm upgrading my Windows 10 PC to an AM4 CPU while keeping everything else unchanged. I also plan to perform a clean install of Windows 11. How can I ensure my existing Microsoft license transfers correctly to Windows 11? Should I log in with my Microsoft account on the upgraded machine, and it will handle the activation and license switch automatically? I've seen suggestions about using the Troubleshoot menu under Activation and selecting the old computer to transfer the license. This should apply even if the original license was for Windows 10. Thanks for your guidance!

Proceed with the upgrade, then move to Win11 via the Windows update. Enter your MS account during login, and a clean reinstall will be possible. Windows will automatically reactivate upon subsequent logins. If it doesn’t activate by default, adjust the activation settings accordingly.

I discovered you can perform these steps:
- Set up Windows 11 on a brand-new, unactivated system.
- Use a Microsoft account with the license.
- Navigate to the activation page and tap 'I recently changed hardware'.
- Choose the previous (Windows 10) PC from the options.
- It successfully activated Windows 11 without problems.
You won’t need to upgrade the older system first.
