Sure thing! Here’s a revised version of your notes:
Hey everyone, I’m planning a major storage overhaul for my desktop. I’ll be installing a fresh Windows setup on a new 1TB 860 EVO drive. It’s been a while since I did this, so I want to double-check everything. I’ve prepared the following steps:
1. Saved all hardware drivers onto a USB stick (just in case)
2. Installed Windows 10 via the Media Creation Tool on a USB drive
3. Stored my key files in OneDrive or a backup HDD.
My plans for the upgrade include:
1. Performing Secure Erase on the 850 EVO 250GB SSD to prepare it for resale
2. Booting into WD Blue 1TB and cleaning it up before installation
3. Connecting only the 1TB 860 EVO drive during the install so it’s set as the primary drive (avoiding issues with multiple drives in the past).
Anything else I should be doing? Thanks!
Keep your HDD as a backup drive and don't sell it. If you plan to create a system image later, use a smaller partition—like 250 GB—on your new SSD to make images smaller and quicker to restore.
