I'm using an MSI H81M-P33 with the stock CPU cooler. I overclocked my CPU to 4.0 GHz in BIOS, but when I'm running the desktop and checking Task Manager, it shows the CPU clocking around 5 GHz. Despite this, my system runs smoothly with stable temperatures between 50-53°C and no crashes. It's a bit confusing, and I'm not sure what might be causing this discrepancy. Any advice or information you have would be really helpful.

Check the recommended overclocking limits for your Sock CPU and MSI H81M-P33. If you're able to exceed them safely.

With the cooler in place, I've noticed users achieving up to 4.2GHz while maintaining acceptable temperatures. For your H81m chipset board, I wouldn't suggest pushing beyond this frequency, though it does vary based on the silicon quality.
