Pentium D 915 Overclock?
Pentium D 915 Overclock?
You have a Pentium D 915 with a 2.8GHz clock on an MSR600M Acer Aspire motherboard. The BIOS only supports up to 266MHz, and your CPU's Z register shows it's running at 200MHz with a 12x multiplier. It seems the issue is likely related to a multiplexer adjustment or voltage changes. Have checked the forums and most PD 915 discussions have been removed when attempting to access them. Let me know if this helps before you risk damaging your chip.
yeah thats what i figured but it appears my bios doesnt let me change the voltage so was gonna see if anyone else had done this without needing to up the voltage before i do it. dont wanna get into a position were the comp wont even boot up due to lack of voltage and i cant get into the bios to change it back.
dont think my board is designed for OC (dam acer) but since the option is there to put the mhz up thought id investigate
checked my system with cpu z and prime before to check temps, and the spec on processorfinder. got a bit of temp tolreance to use up
Did you add any additional cooling? Checking a standard fan on Ebuyer in the Mo area—unless it's really necessary.
