Your setup includes Windows 10 Pro, a 64-bit MSI B550M mortar with 32GB Crucial RAM, a Ryzen 7 5800X, and an EVGA 2070 Super graphics card. The system uses a 750W PSU and has a 1TB NVMe SSD. You're experiencing problems with the PCIe slot, the Wi-Fi card, and the GPU size. The Wi-Fi card works fine in a single PCIe slot but fails when using a 16x slot, which is hidden in Device Manager. Your GPU is a 3-slot model that uses one slot and covers both, while the other slot remains hidden. If you have any advice, thank you! P.S. Testing in a single slot succeeded because your GPU is narrower.

I would rather avoid this and my existing setup should suffice. PCIe 1x functions within PCIe 16x, which makes me question why it isn’t working now.

Use a USB Wi-Fi dongle, but some disconnect often and updating drivers leads to crashes.

You're wondering why the 4th PCIe port isn't suitable for your setup. It's common to think it's reserved for GPUs and SLI, but a 1x Wi-Fi adapter should work in any slot.

Another option is to purchase a Wi-Fi extender, connect it to your router, and then link an Ethernet cable from the extender to your PC. This frees up your PCI slots for your GPU. Just ensure you choose an extender with a high-speed Ethernet connection; I previously made this error and ended up with 100Mbps wired internet, so I opted for Wi-Fi instead. Alternatively, you could buy a USB Wi-Fi adapter. I’m not certain if updating drivers resolves any compatibility issues, but you can check online reviews for similar experiences. If your router is close by, using Ethernet might be the simplest choice.
