Hi there. You're planning to assemble a PC without any M.2 slots on your motherboard. I looked into some options and found adapters that fit PCIe slots, which could add an M.2 slot. Since your board doesn’t have one naturally, you might be able to achieve this by using the adapter. Let me know if you need more guidance. Thanks for reaching out!

You can set up an SSD this way, though you need to verify your motherboard is compatible with NVMe booting, since some older models don’t support it.

You can verify if your motherboard supports the component by consulting the manufacturer's specifications or using online compatibility tools.

Which motherboard are you considering? What purpose does the M.2 drive serve?

You already own a mobile? ...or are you looking for one that can’t be attached to anything?

m.2 setup for starting Windows 10. My friend provided it at no cost. He operates a PC repair service. My motherboard is quite outdated—an ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme—but I acquired it inexpensively during a previous boot sale a few years ago.

I found an ASUS crosshair for IV Extreme at just five dollars. I'm trying to save money.

Certainly, a budget SSD that can be used as a boot device is sufficient.
