You’ve made a solid upgrade and faced some compatibility hiccups. Let’s break down your setup and options.

For fitting Thermaltake, the riser you used (Gen3) is compatible with most cases, but it depends on the exact mounting style of your case. If you’re considering a Gen4 riser, it could offer better performance and potentially reduce restarts, though it may require a different case design.

Setting PCIe slots to Gen3 mode didn’t help much—your system still restarts. Trying to force Gen4 without the right hardware might not solve the issue.

If you want the vertical mount, you’ll need a riser that matches the case’s mounting pattern. A Gen4 riser could work if your case supports it, but ensure it’s compatible with your thermal solution. Otherwise, sticking with a Gen3 riser or exploring alternative cases might be the way forward.

You might return the riser, it appears to be defective, and there’s no explanation why the 3080Ti wouldn’t function on PCIe3.
