Sure, I understand you're searching for specific motherboards. If you have any details about their prices or features, let me know so I can help further. Also, thank you for offering their names!

Which virtual machines are active? For gaming setups you might be able to reduce resources, and sharing CPU cores is typical for VM management.

I considered running several strategy games in multiple virtual machines to observe AI behavior. I wasn’t just focusing on that, I’d also explore AI and rendering tasks. If that didn’t work, I’d use the same setup for Minecraft or similar games as a home/gaming server. Since servers don’t require high GPUs, I thought about using shared CPU cores in the VMs. Previously, I used Windows VM tools to split VRAM and run a Type 2 hypervisor, but it seemed like core sharing wasn’t possible. I was also thinking about switching to Linux for VMs, wondering if that would be feasible.

Hyper-v automatically shares processing units among virtual machines, making it simple to allocate extra CPUs. What CPU requirements do those games demand? Additionally, hyper-v functions as a basic hypervisor, similar to how KVM handles core distribution.

i encountered an issue when trying to use more cores than available. it might be because windows is running inside each virtual machine. performance requirements vary by game—older titles could run fine with just one core or even a single thread. newer games typically need 2 to 4 cores (or several threads). unfortunately, i’m planning to wait before setting up a full workstation. the cpu i was expecting isn’t available right now, so perhaps when i try again it will be on an am5 chipset, which is generally better. at least now i understand what pcie does!
