Previous week I upgraded the CPU from 2700X to 5700X3D. Initially, I updated the BIOS from F31 to the latest version, then swapped the CPU, but there was a red VGA light on the motherboard and no signal on the monitor (tried DP and HDMI). I changed the CMOS battery, reset the BIOS, tried different versions, but couldn't get it running. The PC would boot up when I reinserted the 2700X. Eventually, I placed the GPU in PCIEX8 lane and the PC booted with the 5700X3D CPU. The current BIOS version is F64. Whenever I put the 2700X back in, it allows using PCIEX16 for the GPU. I tested some games and stress tests with the 5700X3D and GPU in PCIEX8 lane, and the PC works well now. My question is how to get the GPU back into PCIEX16 lane?

I upgraded the BIOS from F31 to the latest F65d version, then changed the CPU, but the VGA light on the motherboard stayed red and there was no signal on the monitor (DP and HDMI tried).
Did you read through the instructions in red on the support page for the motherboard?
There’s a particular order of steps to follow before switching to the next BIOS version, especially if you jumped from F31 to F65d.
For example: F31 → F40 → F41 → F42g → F50 → F65d, and remember to update the EC FW as noted in the BIOS instructions for F40.

I attempted the upgrade from BIOS version F31 to F40 using an old CPU, but the EC FW tool failed to install—after running the executable the screen went blank and nothing happened. After about 30 minutes, I restarted the PC manually. This issue repeated this weekend, which is why I switched to the latest BIOS. Could there be a way to verify if the EC FW completed the installation?
