For my build I opted for a powerful RAM and CPU, choosing the 5600X and Corsair 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600MHz CL16 Vengeance. Should I pick a X570 instead of a B550 since the X570 uses PCIe 4?

It depends on your setup. If you're using high-speed components like PCIe 4 SSDs or multiple PCIe 3 SSDs, it's important to ensure they're all in the same lanes and running at full capacity together. However, chipset lanes will still be constrained by a 4-to-1 configuration toward the CPU.

The main benefit of X570 compared to B550 lies in its enhanced connectivity options. It offers a greater number of USB 3 ports and headers, with more capable ones supporting 10Gbps speeds. The chipset provides additional PCIe lanes, all Gen 4, making it suitable for high-performance NVMe drives. For AMD users needing multiple Gen 4 NVMe drives at full speed, X570 is the optimal solution. If you require broader device connectivity, X570 becomes a worthwhile investment. Otherwise, you may be overpaying for features not essential to your setup.
