PCIe 32x
PCIe 32x
The system supports up to 16 lanes via PCIe, not 32x. It uses 32-bit PCI, which is significantly slower than PCIe 1x 1.0.
PCIe 32x is included in the official specs, yet it remains unused in everyday consumer devices. It seems to function mainly as a specialized connection point in advanced data center environments. Online marketplaces like eBay and Amazon list products related to PCI 32x, but what's actually available is older 2.2-bit technology from past decades.
why? there isnt any real demand for it either from linus nor the majority of the market its a thing, except there is no use for it on the market. dual GPUs on a single card do have a PLX chip splitting 16 lanes into 32. though these 32 lanes do not have more bandwitdh than the 16 "real" lanes
In fact, a PCI Express x32 slot is physically feasible and included in the specification, though it isn't commonly used because its length is nearly double that of an x16 slot and most connections aren't necessary. Very few cards are designed to fully utilize PCI Express 3.0 x16. While 4.0 is now available and 5.0 is under development, only a limited number of CPUs can manage such a high number of lanes.
This PCIe 4.0 slot isn't available and isn't intended for card use.
