PCIe 3.0 NVMe isn't showing up, but PCIe 4.0 is...
I have a MiniForum UM890pro with a Samsung 950 Pro 512GB SSD that uses a PCIE 3.0 slot. When I try to install it, the BIOS doesn’t recognize it. I can boot from a USB and install Windows normally, but when I restart, nothing appears as the Windows Boot Manager or any NVMe drive shows up. I also had trouble with a PCIe 4.0 card, which worked perfectly. My old 950 Pro was my primary boot drive for years without problems. Recently, I got a GMKTec Evo-X2 and wanted to use another SSD for dual booting Windows and Linux (PopOS). It’s facing the same issue. Is it really not backward compatible on Mini PCs, or is there something specific I’m missing? I’ve tried disabling Secure Boot and other security features, but it didn’t help. It seems like PCIe 3.0 devices might not be supported in this setup, or maybe I need to adjust a setting I’m overlooking. If anyone has advice, I’d really appreciate it.
Yes, you can access the BIOS by forcing the slot into PCIe 3 mode.
i found this talking about using 2 drives The mini PC has space for two mass storage devices, although only one slot can be used when using the OCuLink adapter. from here https://www.notebookcheck.net/Minisforum...755.0.html but other then that i cant find diddly about the bios. the site has screen shots of it but only of each main tab
I only tested it with one M.2 drive on the 890pro. I also tried it with two drives using the Evo X2 setup. The bootloader changes, but it causes an error when trying to start Windows. I’m not sure why this happens.
