Hello, I own an Optiplex 7060 Tower equipped with an i7 8700, 16GB RAM, and a 550w power supply. I’m looking into upgrading to an RX 580 8GB version. Here are my two questions: 1: Did you check the manual for the computer to confirm if it has the necessary slots for the RX 580? The image you shared appears to be what was shown. 2: Can a system with the 0C96W1 motherboard support 8GB of VRAM, or is there a limit?
Your problem isn't about VRAM—unless you have something really old. Focus on fitting the GPU into your setup properly. Some RX 580 cards are heavier than others, especially with an OEM system. Also consider the power supply. Could you share the model number or wattage of your PSU? If you're not sure, take a photo of the label inside the case and I'll help interpret it.
It seems the highest model Dell used was the 1050, and most other choices are likely slot-based. It appears there isn’t a dedicated power connector available. You might want to consider a slot-powered card such as the 1650 (note some have connectors) or the 3050 6GB.
It should function properly with a high-quality 550W power supply and an 8-pin PCIe cable.
This site needs to work with ReBAR, but I’m skeptical Dell would include it. If they didn’t, the LP Intel Arc A380 would still shine because it lacks AUX power connectors. My top choice right now is the RTX 3050 with 6GB of RAM—I think I’ll go for that myself.
If the device uses an 8-pin connector, it should function properly. Changing the power supply to a 550W without any visible labels doesn’t affect compatibility, though the original box is missing.
