suddenly my monitor and graphics card stopped working (evga 980 ti). switched to the built-in one and assumed the GPU was faulty. installed a 1050 ti, but nothing happened. I thought it might be the motherboard. bought a new 1 and swapped everything over, but it still wouldn't turn on. removed one stick of RAM and it started up... the GPU still wasn't detected in the PCI slot. at this stage, it probably needs a new power supply. tried all slots with both Gigabyte Z170X Extreme 3 MOSFET and Seasonic 650W Bronze RAM.

Your troubleshooting approach is still open many options. The system is designed for two RAM sticks, yet no guidance is provided on addressing that problem. Also, you haven’t checked the previous board with just one stick—another step you might consider. Verify if a BIOS update is required and attempt to resolve the RAM issue.

It seems like I was relieved the issue resolved itself. Tomorrow will be tough, though—stressed out already. I’ll try updating then.
