I’d confirm the second position accommodates PCIe x4 slots, while my board only allows SATA or x2 connections there.

You're looking to use additional storage, but only your GPU slot is compatible with Gen 3. On B450 boards, the chipset only supports PCIe Gen 2, meaning any devices not connected directly to the CPU will be limited to Gen 2.
