Functional, but simultaneous usage won't allow full performance. This setup uses a PCIe 2.0 x1 connection, capping speeds at 5Gbps maximum.

This setup ensures compatibility regardless of how a USB device is positioned in the connector, as one port will always be active based on orientation. The design limits each USB port to a maximum of 5 Gbps. The PCIe x1 interface can handle up to 500 MB/s in PCIe 2.0 slots or about 975 MB/s in PCIe 3.0 slots, but practical speeds are typically around 480 MB/s or 960 MB/s after accounting for overhead. With USB 3.0, real-world performance usually stays near 4.5 Gbps or approximately 550 MB/s, which is close to the capabilities of a single PCIe 2.0 lane.
