Only if you purchase a model exceeding 1Gbps. However, it won’t benefit you unless the rest of your network is similarly fast.

The protection is handled through software, not hardware. Besides that, it's a PCIe NIC, and the parts are simply added to the motherboard rather than being a dedicated board, which doesn't offer any benefits.

In a standard desktop setup, the nic has no impact. Premium chips offer advantages mainly for large-scale servers, especially when dealing with 10GB or more.
