PCI 4x adapters
PCI 4x adapters
Hello, I wanted to improve the network setup in the house. I purchased several 10GbE NICs and added them as slots for the other PCs, including the NAS, which supports a 4x port. I thought since my machine is the newest, it should have one. Actually, I was mistaken. My system is an X570 Tomahawk with two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots and two PCIe 4.0 x16 slots (one for the chipset, one for the CPU). Based on what I read, these wouldn’t be sufficient for a 10GbE NIC. I searched locally but couldn’t find any suitable options. I even visited a dedicated PC cable store, but nothing was available. I’m considering using an M.2 slot, though I’m not sure if that’s the best choice. I’m running out of ideas. Do anyone with more experience have a solution? Also, I have an old PS2 and recall seeing a review about an upscaler that worked well. Could you tell me its name? Thanks for your help!
It's likely just a physical connection for x4, not much more than an electrical link.
I understand if it seems a bit confusing. I attempted to insert the card into the X16 slot, but it appeared larger than the slot. I decided to stop and look for a converter instead. I’ll give it another try tonight. Thanks!
