PCE-AC56 Wireless Network Card (code 10) compatible with Windows Fall Creators Edition Update
I've encountered the same issue before. After updating during the fall creators edition release, my ASUS PCE-AC56 Wi-Fi card stopped functioning immediately after the computer restarted. In Device Manager it appears as if I need to uninstall and reinstall the drivers, disable the Ethernet adapter, reset the PC to factory settings, or switch the PCI slot—but nothing resolves it. It seems the update caused a problem.
Thanks! It seems like this might be related to Windows 10 or an Asus device. You're not alone in feeling this way. Laughing helps!
Hi there, I'm facing the same problem with my Asus PCE AC-56. Recently, Microsoft scanned my whole system trying to fix an error that appeared after a recent update, but they couldn't resolve it. I've reached out to Asus, who seem just as uninformed. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, had Microsoft investigate, yet no clear solution has been offered. I'm not upset—this isn't the worst situation. I've also reinstalled Windows multiple times, reformatted all drives, and tried a different wireless card (TP-link T9E), which is also experiencing the same issue. I discovered through extensive online searching that similar problems exist with the T3E, T6E, and T9E cards. Since I have an Asus motherboard, compatibility should be fine, and I've updated my BIOS recently. Hopefully, Microsoft and Asus will provide a fix soon—please keep me posted!
I confirmed the update status regarding a fix after ten conversations with Microsoft. They managed to obtain an .iso file for Windows 1703 (note: this needs to be converted into a boot disk). For me, Rufus is the only media tool that lets me select the ISO. This resolved the problem and I can now use my wireless card Asus PCE AC-56 again. If you can't restore to an older Windows version, try contacting a Microsoft representative via the Windows 10 "Get Help" feature until they provide a solution. They might also want to disable updates for Windows 1709 until the issue is resolved, as automatic updates could reapply the fix. This should help you out.
I'm facing the same issue again after switching from Windows 7 to 10. A replacement card was sent, yet it still doesn't work. I've tried all possible fixes but installed an older version of Windows 10.
For a reason, my Windows was updated once more, and what do you understand? The card isn't functioning, so it's definitely Windows causing the issue. It's time to reinstall again.
Same issue continues here—it’s clearly a compatibility problem. My primary build has been inactive since November (due to moves, etc.), and when I tried to restart for an update, WiFi disappeared right away. Thought a system reset might work (which it did), but now I’m stuck until someone resolves it or I get a new card.
