PC WONT BOOT
[Note: Moderator edit to break up one long continuous paragraph.]
So it’s a long story but i wanted to upgrade cpu and motherboard since it was the worse parts in my pc and it was starting to really struggle with gaming and it was built in 2016 but since has had new ram and gpu and another SSD added.
I got a good micro center deal for a Ryzen 7 7800x3d with a rog strix B650-A gaming motherboard and “free” DDR5 ram cause of the bundle, so i installed everything myself as i built my original pc and have general knowledge and when i first booted up it wouldn’t because i had the panel wires in all wrong
but after i got that it would boot me into bios with a SSD failure imminent please backup and replace. I will admit i may have ignored this for a night or two and just bypassed it, but after two nights of running just fine it crashed on me and i believed it was the ssd
and i have been wanting to do a fresh start on my pc for awhile. So i just unplugged the original ssd and installed windows on it through a usb, i had a few problems with getting windows onto a previously used ssd (had to wipe and convert to a partition to GPT for windows)
but after everything i was back into my computer. After downloading drivers and all the windows updates and having to restart many times i started to finally start to download game launchers and games again and it randomly crashed on me again, not blue screen but just shuts down on my monitors and disconnects all my devices but lights stay on and eventually i had to force it to power down.
It restarted a few times just like nothing happened and i resumed my downloads and was checking my windows updates and making sure all drivers were there but it would crash like every 30 mins or so and eventually i fell asleep (at 4am) and now it won’t boot at all with red cpu light lit on the motherboard.
I don’t think anything i wrong with the motherboard or cpu as they have been running many times with load just fine and temps around 35-40 C. I’ve spent the last week now getting little sleep reading reddit thread after reddit thread helping me with all my other issues as i’m not this inclined when it comes to computers but i have decent knowledge and a couple buddies who do to that have gotten me this far.
As of right now it won’t boot and i’m thinking of doing a bios flashback in the motherboard to see if i can get into bios atleast. Any help is much apperciated im losing my mind 😭
Pc parts:
Cpu: Ryzen 7 7800x3d
mobo: Rog strix B650-A gaming wifi
Gpu: Nvidia rtx 4060
Ram: 2x16gb G.skill flare 5 DDR5
SSD: Sandisk 512gb sata ssd
Ps: 750w 80 plus gold from power spec
I would begin from the very beginning. Take apart the PC and reassemble it carefully, keeping it cooler off with the CPU removed (check for any damage). Pull out all the SSDs and replace them with a new 250GB model (it’s small but affordable). Consider getting a Samsung 980 Pro; it shouldn’t be expensive. Finally, verify that everything is correctly positioned in the right places, especially the cables.
Bios flashback might assist.
Make the Windows 10/11 USB installation if possible.
Then try again.
It seems the SSD could be the problem, but I’m just pointing that way!
It’s frustrating when building PCs and these issues occur—just stay calm and fix them one by one!
You're questioning whether you should still rely on your second SSD given the recent expenses and potential risks.
Start with acquiring the motherboard's User Guide/Manual from the manufacturer's official site. Also, review the relevant documents for every installed part. This particular board? B650-A [Make sure you recognized the correct User Manual.] Examine all the documents thoroughly, focusing on every small detail, warnings, notes, and references to online support such as FAQs and forums. Organize your build process as though it were a fresh installation. Go through each step carefully. Be thorough—don’t skip or overlook any issue. Address problems immediately before moving forward. Confirm that every component is compatible and can be set up correctly. Follow the Windows Reinstall instructions precisely, referencing the discussions in this Forum threads and the provided link: https://forums.
^^this exactly...
I just rebuilt my main PC 7800x3d 7900xtx after I pressed the power button—it would squeak and shut down repeatedly, again and again.
Most of the parts were identical; only the case and CPU cooler changed, switching from an Arctic Freezer II 360 to a III 420.
After about 20 minutes of thinking about what might be different, I found the problem: one cable was different.
My Asus Rog Crosshair X670e Gen board has two CPU power plugs at the top.
I considered using a different cable to help, but since the case was tight with the III 420 in it, that caused the issue. Using the same cable as before resolved the problem.
Sometimes you have to start fresh.
Don’t worry if you’re unsure—this is just a process of elimination.
The Asus boards used older BIOS versions and supported 7000 CPUs (I suggested checking for damage).
If everything else was fine, that issue would be gone.
Inspect all cables and connections!
Take the RAM out and re-seat it!
It’s unlikely the GPU is the cause—just pull it out, wipe the fingers, and put it back in.
Change the SSD format or replace it with a smaller one if needed, but keep just one SSD for now.
See the pattern—it’s all about elimination.
I don’t know what’s wrong with your computer, but even if others had the same problem, it might not be the same thing!
