Can you confirm whether you managed to run the system without the GPU installed, and did it still display the VGA light?

Could you confirm if you've tried testing the GPU on another system? This is likely your initial action. By
I haven't managed to run the GPU test on a different configuration; I continue to see the VGA indicator during startup without a GPU.

But I've used a functional GPU in various PCIe slots and still faced the same problem, so it doesn't necessarily point to a GPU issue.

Solved, for now. The new processor functioned on the first attempt and managed to POST. Odd that I kept seeing a VGA light on my x470 gaming plus motherboard while it wouldn’t post, but all the fans would kick in and the rig would light up. Also strange that my processor (Ryzen 9 3900x) stopped working suddenly after three years without moving it properly and maintaining good temperatures. Thank you.

Nice.
Identifying issues in the system often involves a trial and error approach. The VGA light staying on even after the GPU wasn't installed points toward the CPU or Motherboard. Having spare parts to test each component is ideal and provides the best chance to diagnose the problem.
As you noted, it's uncommon for the CPU to fail suddenly unless under heavy stress. Still, a bit of troubleshooting might be worthwhile. A CPU that stops working unexpectedly is usually linked to power issues or overclocking errors.
