PC vs PS4 UK Prices
PC vs PS4 UK Prices
There are some WILD prices. Let me clarify.
COD WWII, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Detroit become human
PC Steam: £45, £45, £30
PS4 Preowned game.co.uk: £8, £15, £20
What gives?! Why don't PC game prices drop as much as PS4's do?
Preowned. Used. That's why they're cheaper. At least compare new to new e.g. Steam vs official PS store.
I suppose in most cases there is no difference in buying a "used" game compared to new. There have been titles in the past where the first person to buy it gets a one-time activation code for bonus content, which would be consumed and not included if game later resold. I don't know if that applies to any of these.
Used prices for PS4 are quite similar to the costs of older games for new releases. You won't find used versions of those titles on PC since they're all digital. Console gaming has become significantly more affordable compared to PC gaming today. Long live console gaming!
I obtained all Tomb Raider tiles and DLCs on Steam for 10€ around 2014.
What matters is that sometimes these offers are great, other times not so much.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is now priced at 18,99€ new for PC.
Deals are available if you're on the site at the right time. I can secure a new PS4 for £350 with a free game and all the others at those prices today, tomorrow, and the next day. It's happening fast.
SOTTR for £18 on PC isn't legitimate. Those questionable CD key sites might be involved. Console gaming is wild—cheap titles are everywhere, and many games now come digitally instead of on discs. I doubt you'll find COD WWii on PC DVD or Blu-ray, and prices haven't changed much.
A 2070 Super GPU would cost nearly double a PS4, but consoles are designed to run on less powerful hardware since they're tailored for their games.
