PC Upgrade suggestions/guidance
PC Upgrade suggestions/guidance
Recently, I bought the PC listed below for £100.00 on Friday. I'm aiming to build a gaming PC within a budget. It doesn't need to be top-tier or capable of running all the best games in 4K, as long as it maintains around 60FPS at 1080p, that should suffice.
Details:
Hardware:
Motherboard: ASUS M1101I-PLISOS
Operating System: Windows 10 Home
CPU: i5-7400
RAM: 20GB at 2133 MHz (4GB Corsair & 16GB Patriot)
GPU: MSI Aero GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 ITX Graphics Card
Storage: N/A
SSD: Fanxiang SATA SSD 250G (up to 530MB/s, 2.5 Inches, SATA III 6Gb/s)
Power Supply: Corsair VS Series VS350
Display: ACER Nitro XV282KK @ 144Hz
I’m curious about possible upgrades and where to begin. For instance, should I consider moving from an i5 to an i7, or are there other improvements to prioritize first?
I’ve already installed the Corsair VS350 and ordered a Corsair VS550 80+ Certified ATX PSU, which will arrive and be installed tomorrow.
What is your budget? There are many outdated parts here, and upgrading might not be worthwhile. For instance, a new i7-7700 costs $167, which is similar to a new Ryzen 5 7600 or i5-13400F. Moving from a Corsair VS350 to a Corsair VS550 isn't really an upgrade. It does offer a bit more capacity, but it remains a poor PSU and I would never use it with a dedicated GPU. This would only be relevant in an office setup that doesn’t require much performance.
Thank you for your response, it's really appreciated.
I'm not constrained by a fixed budget, but I need guidance on which improvements to prioritize soon. For instance:
Upgrade the i5-7400 to an i7-7700
Upgrade the 16GB 2133 MHz RAM to 32GB 2600 MHz RAM
Mentioned about the VS550 upgrade. To be honest, it's a mini gaming PC, so I aimed to align existing parts with recommendations from my local shop.
You'd gain more worth from a fresh setup instead of improving the existing one. It may require a bit more expense (or save some), but it would be a smarter choice.
I've taken note. I'll utilize this for now and begin accumulating resources to construct a new one later.
