Hello Everyone,
I’m fairly experienced with PCs but feel unsure about upgrading my CPU.
Right now I have:
i7 8700k - AIO cooler
rtx 3090 FE
32gb DDR4 3200mhz
Aorus 7 z370
1000w PSU
My CPU is limiting my GPU performance, especially in games like Escape From Tarkov. I’ve thought about switching to an i9 9900k since my MOBO supports it, but the benchmarks don’t support that idea.
I’m wondering what would be the best upgrade so my GPU isn’t being bottlenecked as much.
I’m open to used parts and don’t want to exceed £300 GBP.

I’ve thought about moving to the i9 9900K since it’s compatible with my MOBO, but the benchmarks don’t support it much. That would be pointless. Your upgrade options are limited because you’re still using the same motherboard. You mentioned an AIO cooler—could you tell me its brand and model, as well as its age? Either of these could make a good upgrade;

I don’t know the model beyond it being platinum rated; I bought it used, so it’s probably 4-6 years old.
The cooler is a twin radiator cooler master one, quite simple, but since I got this used, I can’t change to AMD sockets because I don’t have the bracket.
Would an LGA1151 bracket fit on an 1700?
