Hello everyone, I’m looking at improving my setup gradually rather than replacing everything at once. I’d appreciate any advice on a path that could lead to a better system over time. I’m content with what I have so far—low bottlenecks are great—but I’m open to suggestions. My current configuration includes an Intel Core i9-9900K, 16GB RAM, RTX 3060, 12GB motherboard (Asus Prime Z390-P), Corsiar RM750 cooler, and a Samsung 970 Pro SSD. I’m considering starting with a CPU and motherboard upgrade, possibly switching to AMD, but I’d love your thoughts on other options too! Thanks for your help! - The Donut of Power

Consider upgrading your CPU, motherboard, and possibly RAM. What are your current RAM's speed and CL?

I'll need to look into the BIOS just a moment. It seems like it's using two Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4 3600 MHz modules at 16 channels.

For AM5 you require DDR5 memory, while AM4 needs DDR4. Determine your needs. Are there any titles that fall short in FPS or detail quality? Do they support 1080p or better?

The system would appeal to many in similar situations, though I’m unsure of your specific requirements. RAM is inexpensive, so if you run memory-intensive applications or games, consider upgrading. Using the system for years without further changes seems possible, but without knowing your needs it’s difficult to confirm.

You'll need all three components—CPU, motherboard, and RAM—to access the newest system. Choosing AMD with DDR4 means you're still using the AM4 socket, which isn't much better unless you run cache-intensive games. Unless you can find an Intel processor and motherboard at their current high prices on eBay or local sites, it won't be worth it unless you're willing to pay a premium.
