Hello everyone! Last year I built my own PC for various tasks, including gaming with moderate to heavy use. My setup included an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, an RTX 2070 Super with 8GB RAM, a 512GB M2 NVME SSD, and a Gigabyte X-570 motherboard. Now we're near New Year's, and there are some great deals coming up. I'm wondering if any of my components need updating. I have a 24-inch Samsung display at 144 Hz, which was sufficient back then. Right now Fortnite is my main focus, but I plan to try more games like Battlefield V. If I don’t upgrade, how long can I keep using this configuration until I replace the screen? Thanks!

If you need to mention it, chances are you're not looking for much improvement in that device. It already offers solid performance for most games of medium to heavy difficulty. The only real upgrade I'd consider is increasing the storage space, as I tend to accumulate a lot of data and prefer keeping things saved. A higher-quality monitor would also help (like 1440p at 27 inches with 144Hz), but that's not essential.

Your system performs well as it stands. Adding more storage could help accommodate the additional games you plan to purchase. Regarding the monitor, it really comes down to your gaming style—though a 3440x1440 144Hz ultra-wide display would be reasonable with your current setup. If you're eager to invest in upgrades, think about enhancing your audio equipment, keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals.

Skip this year's improvements and plan for the GPU upgrade later. Prices probably won't drop to a reasonable level in a few years. If you really need something, it's better to focus on peripherals and other tech items. Individual components are unlikely to see big discounts due to supply issues. You'll likely get bundles with minor savings or older hardware.
