Hello, after upgrading my PC components—motherboard, power supply, CPU, RAM—I still face issues with Forza Horizon 5 not launching properly. I moved from a 10900k Z390 with DDR4 to an Alder Lake setup with a 12900k and Z690 using DDR5 and Seasonic Prime PX-1300. Despite changing BIOS settings, updating the system, and reinstalling the game, it keeps failing. Sometimes it freezes during loading, refuses to close, and even when I force-closed it in Task Manager, audio glitches and it crashes. Now it just hangs on the loading screen, freezing briefly before jumping to desktop with a quick F4. I'm looking for real help, not just generic advice.

Typically after major updates, it's best to reinstall Windows. Save your data first and attempt a fresh setup.

Sure, I understand. I’m trying to prevent sharing irrelevant details and will keep this focused. So far, this problem is limited to this game, and I’ll update the thread if I run into any other issues, except for those known DRM problems with Alder Lake.

I’ve also heard that suggestion before, but honestly I usually steer clear since there’s no simple way to protect my files right now. The “keep my files” option on Windows doesn’t really help, and I remember learning about reliable backup tools the hard way.

I’m not very familiar with backup software, but most people store their data on cloud services like OneDrive or Google Drive, or on a physical hard drive. You might also try using DDU to check the game files. FH5 has had many reported problems, and I also faced frequent crashes when using Game Pass. It could be an issue with the game itself, but since you upgraded your hardware, it’s likely not related. Are you using Windows 10 or 11? The 12th generation Intel CPU works better with Windows 11 than with Windows 10, and upgrading should preserve all your programs and files.

Oh yeah I forgot to say that I tried verifying game files before reinstalling too, didn't work. Haven't tried the DDU method yet, and yeah fh5 was and still is pretty buggy but at least I could play it. As for updating to windows 11 well I am one of those people who would much prefer if I did not have to do that at least not yet, given the state of that OS.

Yeah I never upgrade either as long as I don't need to. But the problem is that Alder Lake compatibility with W10 is pretty bad and that can cause issues. Maybe you can create a second partition, install 11 on that and see if it helps. Maybe even keep the dualboot just for FH5.
