PC stops working unexpectedly after a month of inactivity
Just returned from a month away. The PC wasn’t connected during my absence. When I power it on, games load but the system crashes immediately—no BSOD or warnings, just a black screen. Reliability monitor indicates the software I was using (Steam, Epic Launcher, etc.) triggered the shutdown. It seems hardware might be the issue since everything worked fine before. I’ve done: added RAM, swapped sticks, reset CMOS, and even cleared the system. Still, crashes occur when testing different configurations. Any advice before replacing the whole unit?
Initially I removed the CPU, RAM, and GPU, waited ten minutes, then reinstalled ICE, Epic Launcher, and Fortnite. After restarting, the crash returned on both RAM sticks. I tried using only one stick, cleared CMOS, and restarted again. The issue persisted even after swapping RAM sticks correctly or replacing the PSU. Testing each stick individually confirmed the problem. It seems both RAM units might be faulty, the power supply is failing, or the motherboard is damaged. I ruled out CPU and GPU since I managed to play games and watch 4K videos without issues. I plan to get a new PSU and some RAM soon, then update later.
