I might recommend returning the item, though that seems troublesome. It could also point to a RAM problem—are you running a 64-bit version of Windows or a 32-bit one?

Review the BIOS settings to ensure they're in AHCI mode. Verify that all your RAM is properly recognized. Use Speccy to monitor your HDD temperatures. If the HDDs run hot, performance will decrease.
