Your PC seems to start when you interact with the mouse or move the mouse, which is unusual. It might be related to a motherboard configuration that needs adjustment. I can help you with that if you'd like. Motherboard model: ASUS PRIME A320M-K (BIOS version 5603). Let me know if you need further assistance.

No, it occurs during shutdown, not just in sleep mode.

When the system powers off, it works fine now. This was my first Linux setup, and I don’t recall any issues then. Later, I upgraded to a Linux laptop and added Windows 11. That’s when I noticed the boot process using the mouse. It’s unclear how the operating system manages this functionality directly through hardware or if it’s specific to Windows settings.

Some motherboards and laptops come with options like "Power on by mouse" or "Power on by keyboard." Certain devices even have "Power on when lid opens" enabled by default. These features are common and typically managed through the BIOS settings. If this behavior began after installing Windows 11, it might be related. Have you tried turning off Fast Startup to check if the shutdown process is complete when using the Shutdown option in Windows?

Fast Startup was activated (though I believed it was already turned off) and the recent test indicates it functions properly. I'll follow up in a few days to confirm the issue is resolved. Appreciate your assistance and enjoy the holidays!

I reviewed your motherboard's user manual and discovered a QR code directing to a FAQ about BIOS settings. There, I found a question regarding disabling standby power for USB-connected devices. I've attached a PDF of that page. I can't upload links, but I'll share the information here. Please let me know if this addresses your issue. Thank you for the idea. My BIOS was set up in that manner before.

Verify if deep sleep is activated on both S4 and S5 modules. If active, expect no physical response to USB devices as they remain unpowered. No specific instructions available for disabling deep sleep on your motherboard—reviewing the settings might help. Let me know if this resolves your concern.

Couldn't locate the deep sleep option. I chose to upgrade my BIOS since it was several outdated versions.
