PC starts up but doesn't boot after watching YouTube videos?
While browsing on YouTube, my screen abruptly lost video but I could still hear it playing. After restarting the PC, there was no POST. The fans were running, yet the monitor either remained blank or showed "CHECK SIGNAL CABLE" following several hard shutdowns.
Here’s my setup:
TUF x570 gaming wifi
AMD 2600
RTX 2060 SUPER
Viper 16Gb 2600mhz
Arctic liquid cooler AIO 240mm
PSU EVGA 750 b2
BIOS version 2802
Storage
1. Boot drive – samsung 980 nvme m.2 1tb
2. Samsung 870 sata 2.5inch 1tb
3. Seagate sata 2.5 inch 1tb
Additionally, during forced shutdowns, my PC would immediately power back up when the power button was released.
I took it to a repair shop, and they followed these steps:
1. Swapped the monitor – still no POST, but their system worked fine with it.
2. Swapped the RAM – they tried a single module first, then moved to Tforce 32gb 3200. They faced restart issues until they examined my GPU.
3. Chose a 1050 model to avoid a power connector and simplify troubleshooting. They noticed a burnt pin, suggesting it resolved at that moment.
After these adjustments, everything was reassembled. While using the PC, it suddenly restarted. It continued posting and displayed HWinfo showing all components. I suspected a loose connection might have caused the abrupt restart, possibly due to connector adjustments.
I returned home and used it for a while until the last day, when I was working and got coffee. It restarted again and displayed a BSOD. After several restarts, the error "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL" appeared. They mentioned it could be linked to frequent sudden shutdowns.
Currently, I’m busy at work but plan to try these steps next time:
1. Disconnect all components, including the CMOS battery.
2. Change the boot drive and attempt to boot with other drives disconnected.
3. Possibly replace the CPU and PSU.
Any additional tips to prepare for repairs? I’m not a professional, so please be patient. I really want to fix it myself instead of sending it to a repair shop.
Thank you very much.
Sorry, the PSU is an EVGA 750 B3 bronze.
This unit has been in use for 5 years, purchased in 2018.
BIOS version 2802 is installed.
Is the listed wattage the actual output power? It should be 750W at 50°C, but I can't view the image.
