My computer needs to be loaded into BIOS before it will start, and then a restart is required—either by closing the session properly or pressing the restart button. This issue began a few months ago. I installed Linux on an SSD after my Windows 10 installation failed to boot from the HDD. I thought it would resolve itself once I upgraded to Windows 11, but the problem persists. I’ve confirmed everything is updated—motherboard, CPU, and all components are current. The Windows 10 installation is set up on the HDD but isn’t listed as a boot drive in disk management. I’m considering upgrading some parts, but want to avoid replacing major components. Should I format the HDD or is there a problem with my motherboard? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

this is enabled in windows

if yes, disable it and check the effect.
windows drive isn't visible in disk management?
please share a screenshot so we can confirm the appearance.
upload to an image sharing site and include the link here.
i'm curious if it's GRUB because you modified linux

if you're getting a brand new PC, it's probably best to format the c drive anyway—this issue seems tied to old hardware. It's unlikely to recur again.

Sorry, I attempted to reply last night but it wasn't possible. Thanks for your response.

I tried disabling fast startup, but that didn't resolve the issue. The drive with Linux was already formatted, making it hard to pinpoint the problem further. Now that it's even more complicated, I've restarted everything from the beginning and still face the same challenges.

I mentioned having both the old drive with Windows 10 and the new Linux installation, but it wasn't showing the older drive as a boot option. After formatting the old HDD and moving non-essential files over, I disconnected it and reinstalled Windows 11 on the SSD without using the HDD. It remains disconnected.

So far, only updates and the MSI installation have been applied. The system freezes during restarts, even before I installed MSI, and it still does so after installation. It seems the problem might be hardware-related. Any suggestions on what could be causing this?
