PC starts in Windows yet no screen is showing anything.
I powered off my PC last night and then installed the latest AMD 25.12 driver along with the AMD chipset driver from the AMD driver downloader (which features the black AMD logo). When I turned it back on today, there was absolutely no display output. Since I had four DDR4 RAM sticks installed, I suspected a RAM-related problem that often occurs. Normally, I would remove the RAM and try swapping slots or similar fixes, but every time the PC started, the screen remained blank. After resetting CMOS, I repeated the process. The CPU fans were working fine, and the GPU fan was spinning as expected, but there was still no display signal. Then I added a speaker, and the PC booted up to Windows, playing the standard boot sound. I entered the password and signed in using the Windows Narrator shortcut, and everything functioned correctly. Despite all interactions working, the absence of a display persisted. I noted an initial DP port initialization problem, but switching to HDMI didn’t resolve the issue. My monitor worked when tested with a laptop’s HDMI output. It seems there was no boot logo displayed on the motherboard, resulting in a completely black screen, yet Windows still launched normally. This appears to be a driver-related issue. I saw similar reports on Reddit yesterday about someone else facing the same problem after installing the latest AMD driver on a 9070xt. I don’t have any additional GPU hardware for troubleshooting, and the warranty has expired, so I can’t even request an RMA.
My system specifications are as follows: (GPU - Asus Dual RX6700XT and CPU - R5 5600, PSU - Deepcool PK750D, Mobo - Gigabyte B550m Aorus Elite, RAM - Kingston Fury Beast 8GB DDR4 3200MHz 4 sticks, Kingston Gen 4 NVMe)
This seems to point toward a driver-related problem since the display functions properly and Windows operates normally. It might be due to an unsupported video mode or an attempt to use a different output, but starting in safe mode could resolve the issue if the GPU is working correctly.
So So I brought my friends GPU (4070) and installed. It worked fine , and I installed my GPU on his PC it also worked fine. I thought maybe it's something to do with windows so I installed windows and removed friedns GPU and installed mine. But still there's no display out.
So what's going on here ?
Finally Fixed
Updated the Gigashit bios to the latest release (previous version was from February 2024).
Restarted the system, disabled CSM, enabled 4G decoding, turned off the resizable bar, set PCIE speed to Gen 3, and rebooted again.
After that, unplugged the 4070 and installed 6700xt – it functioned properly.
Uncertain about any issues with the newest Windows release (I updated Windows, AMD adrenaline, and chipset drivers during the last shutdown).
PCI-E speed to gen 3 might cause a bottleneck; consider switching to auto and checking without further adjustments. A resizable BAR would be helpful but less critical than the PCI-E speed. Clearing CSM to OFF is typical, and 4GB Decoding should definitely be enabled (Resizable BAR likely won't function properly otherwise). This suggests the BIOS settings may have been incorrect previously. I recommend testing whether you can restore the PCI-E speed and Resizable BAR to Auto/On after recent changes.
I activated them (expecting CSM) once the BIOS started the entire system. Everything is functioning properly as before.
