PC started lagging during games after restarting
I had to reboot my computer a few days back and after that, certain games began to stutter: risk of rain 2 frequently drops to single digits or low teens in frames. In League of Legends, frame drops occur every few seconds, sometimes once per minute, with FPS falling to 50-70%. For GPU-intensive titles like Horizon Zero Dawn and Witcher 3, there are no significant dips. All drivers and Windows are current; I don’t recall updating anything right before the issue began. There have been no unusual temperature readings, and I’ve tried restarting since the problem started, but it didn’t resolve it. My suspicion is it relates to the CPU, though it won’t reach 40% utilization. Monitoring cores in Ryzen Master didn’t show any hitting 4.7 GHz during stuttering, which is confusing. I’ve attached a log file from the AMD app containing my PC’s CPU and GPU data for 20 minutes of gaming. The frames dropped less this time compared to previous sessions—though I’m sure my PC is struggling. I ran a spymark test and compared it to last year’s results (a year ago). My GPU improved slightly (15316 vs 14557) while my CPU showed a minor drop (7745 vs 7900).
PC Specs: 5600X stock R6800, driver v.22.4.1, Corsair Vengeance DDR4 4x8GB, 3600Mhz, Cl18, Asus Prime B550+, BIOS 2006. All games run from a 1TB SSD separate from the OS SSD (Gigabyte 1TB) plus two HDDs for storage Hyper 212 Spectrum CoolerMaster 750W Gold PCIe 4.0. Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit, build 19044.1645. LoL.CSV and RoR2.CSV attached.
I usually leave it running, occasionally switch it off (don’t mean to hibernate), but one day a game began behaving oddly because of some installed mods (unrelated). I thought restarting would fix it, so I did that and then the computer started having issues. (Those mods have been removed already). I also checked for viruses using nod32, but found nothing.
It doesn't stutter under heavy loads or while gaming. Have you checked some benchmarks? Make sure it isn't throttling at all. Are there any processes running that could be keeping you busy, such as updates? Since it only works on low-end games, the issue might be related to those specific titles.
