I am upgrading the Motherboard, CPU, and RAM. This is the work / experience I've been having today: After completing my build I would turn on my PC, but it would not post anything to the screen and my peripherals (mouse and keyboard) would not light up. I tried reseating my GPU and RAM, as well as pulling out the CMOS battery for a couple of minutes, but that did not solve my issue until I discovered that I had my RAM in the wrong slots (1 + 3), so I moved them over to the correct (2 + 4). I was able to confirm my device would POST with just the Motherboard/iGPU + CPU + Single RAM Stick. I was seeing a warning for my storage device, as it was encrypted with a different CPU. I turned off my PC after this, and installed the remaining RAM, and the GPU and other devices (HDD and Blu-Ray Player). When booting, I was not getting any results with the DisplayPort cable plugged into my GPU. I unplugged the cable and inserted into my motherboard/iGPU, and was eventually able to load into a BIOS screen. I did not take not of the BIOS version. From here, I booted directly into my M.2 and was able to navigate around my Linux desktop for a few minutes, things appeared to work fine but I wanted to re-install my OS. I decided to try my GPU one more time, but switching cables to the GPU (and back to the motherboard) caused the screen to go black again. I tried powering off and back on, but my PC would shut down after a couple of seconds. I waiting a few minutes before attempting to boot again, and I am back to my original result of not seeing anything on my monitor or activity with my peripherals. Update 2025/12/1: I have removed HDD and Blu-Ray player, as well as my GPU. I am still unable to get it to post. There is no flashing lights/indicator on the motherboard or case LED
Have you attempted to reduce the PCIe bus speed to Gen 4 or Gen 3 rather than Auto or Gen 5? This older graphics card might not work well with a newer motherboard.
Thank you for the update! I haven’t tested it yet, but I have a gen3 slot ready to use—I think it might impact my card’s performance if I’m not careful. I’m planning to check this this evening. Could this also be related to the integrated graphics, or is it just why the GPU isn’t working?
The iGPU isn't linked through the PCIe connection, which means it shouldn't interfere. This could explain why the GPU isn't functioning properly—it varies by game, but Gen 3 typically provides enough bandwidth for a 6700xt. Also, the 9600X is less likely to stress the GPU compared to a 9800x3D.
I sent in my motherboard for replacement, hoping it would resolve the problem. While removing the other parts, I observed that the CPU cooler didn’t make full contact with the CPU, possibly leading to complications. Since there were no warnings on the motherboard’s Q-LEDs, I suspect this indicates a faulty motherboard.
