PC sounds odd, possibly due to a coil wire issue.
Hello, I noticed some unique issues with my system. The first sound is a soft, almost steady "click" similar to an HDD or sparkling water, noticeable mostly in Windows 11 and Linux but not in BIOS. I tried turning off all fans and the AIO and graphics card fans temporarily, but couldn't pinpoint the cause. The second noise is a loud hiss that appears when the GPU is under heavy load—especially noticeable while rendering in Unity or rotating the camera with the middle mouse wheel in an empty scene. The CPU also reaches full speed, hitting up to 5400 MHz, and the noise stops instantly when the mouse wheel is released. This hiss is only present on Windows 11 and not on Ubuntu. I have an audio recording of the problem, showing the quiet clicking at first, then the louder hissing during Unity work, and finally a CPU benchmark sound. My hardware was purchased in December 2022, with additional SSDs but no HDD or DVD drive. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fXw8wc
It seems like coil whine is present. You might ease it by keeping your FPS around 5 below your monitor's refresh rate, which helps maintain free sync and can lower temperatures. Another option is to slightly undervolt the GPU. Edit: ensure competitive games don't have their FPS capped, as this could increase latency if important.
Coil noise may originate from the power supply unit, especially during intense gaming sessions at high speeds.
