PC shuts down with no screen and only half power on – issue resolved.
My partner's PC is only operating at half capacity. What I mean is the CPU fan is running, the case fans are spinning but not the GPU fans, yet the GPU lights are illuminated. However, the keyboard and mouse indicators remain off. Most importantly, there’s no display output. I originally assembled this system in February 2024 without any problems until about a month ago. I’ve searched online and talked to friends, but nothing has worked. I feel like I’ve tried everything and now have no solution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ahead of time. I’ve done the following: Used HDMI, tried DP, switched monitors, repositioned the GPU, tested the GPU in the system, checked RAM in every slot, swapped RAM out, reset CMOS, replaced PSU, used a different power cable, and even a new power adapter. After all that, I thought it was the motherboard so I bought a new one. It worked perfectly once, then it entered sleep mode and wouldn’t wake up. So I turned it off and back on again, and it’s repeating the same issue. Update: Just check the new motherboard manual – it mentions debug lights and a CPU light that’s on, indicating the CPU isn’t detected. But why was it detected during the rebuild with this new board? This is really frustrating. **Pulls hair out** FIX: The CPU likely failed after replacement; the PC functions normally when the CPU is swapped. Specs: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5 GHz, 6-core processor, MSI B550M PRO-VDH, Corsair Vengeance LPX, 16 GB DDR4-3600, Kingston NV2 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME SSD, Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 7600 XT 16 GB, 650W, 80+ Gold certified, fully modular ATX power supply.
