Hello! Over the past few days my PC has faced two persistent problems. First, a Twitch stream ran in Chrome while playing Destiny 2. It would suddenly freeze—like it was paused—letting me read chat live but preventing any interaction. I couldn’t click anywhere in the browser or use the taskbar, though the clock and FanControl app stayed responsive. Only switching tabs to Destiny 2 resolved the issue temporarily, but it would freeze again after a short while. The only solution was a full PC reset, with no keyboard shortcuts or alt-tabs working.

Second, when I left the PC overnight and turned it on in the morning, the monitor would display half black and the other side squished, accompanied by a loud buzzing noise. Restarting it fixed the problem instantly, except for the next morning.

I’ve tried several fixes in this order: updated GPU drivers, ran sfc, reinstalled Windows, checked for corruption, updated chipset, stress-tested hardware, applied updates, installed all patches, and even updated BIOS. I also installed the latest OS updates and upgraded my RAM and SSD. Everything seems stable now except for those recurring display issues.

If you have any suggestions or tips, I’d really appreciate it!

Verify the event viewer. Are there any issues?

I tried, but I only have a basic understanding of how to interpret it—it’s mainly just the wrong shutdown alert that made my PC shut down.

It seems you're trying to identify the specific power supply unit that might be causing the issue. Could you clarify which PSU model you're using? I've noticed these crashes can stem from the PSU, but other components like RAM, CPU, or motherboard have also been involved. You mentioned considering removing non-essential items—like extra disks, fan controllers, and USB devices—to test if the problem persists.

It's a Thermaltake Litepower 650W model. It isn't the top choice, but I haven't had the funds to upgrade it yet. During stress testing, I applied Extreme presets to run everything at full capacity and it functioned properly, suggesting the problem isn't hardware-related. Everything except my headphones is unplugged, and no extra devices are connected. The disk drives display 100% health in Samsung Magician, so I haven't run further tests on them.
