Right now I really don’t understand what’s going on with my PC. For the past few weeks it keeps freezing to black, even though the fan spins fast and audio stays working. People in Discord can still hear me, but I have to turn it off completely. This started after installing the 24H2 update for Windows 11 or some of the recent Nvidia driver patches. It happens randomly—sometimes once a day, other times for a couple of days, or even twice in a single day. I’ve tried many fixes: updated the Nvidia drivers, rolled back the 24H2 update, used the sfc command, reinstalled the OS, set up a scheduled task to disable a service, and even checked the Windows Event Viewer. The “logi_lamparray_service” kept appearing, and I set it to turn off on startup. I also checked the BIOS and chipset drivers, but nothing seems out of the ordinary now. There was a crash notification when I turned it back on, but only once. My PC specs are listed above. It’s possible the GPU or power supply is failing, but I’m not sure. I’ve seen some online reports about a dying GPU or PSU problems, but I just need another opinion before replacing parts or going through warranty. The 24H2 update is definitely a factor, but I’m still not convinced.

Sure, I can check it with your friend's GPU. Just let them know you'd like to run the test.

I won't be able to. It seems I might have one left, though I'm not entirely certain (so I didn't mention it). I'll respond if I locate it, just hoping to find more information.

It's best to experiment with a different GPU. My friend faced the same issue with his 2060, and changing it resolved the problem.

It happened to me with a faulty power supply, causing the GPU to overheat and produce soft errors. Maybe that's the cause. If it occurs again, try the Windows+Ctrl+Shift+B "reset graphics drivers" method. I'm not sure if it worked before, but it might help. Have you ever run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth? That could point to a corrupted BIOS. I saved a GPU that way, though it's risky. If you have another drive, a clean install there could be useful. It might clarify whether the issue is software or hardware-related.

Being close to a recycling facility could allow you to inspect old electronics for a GPU.

It seems the increased fan speed occurred after the black screen appeared. Could it mean the monitor or cable (HDMI/DP) was the problem? If so, the issue might be with the display or cable, and you could test a different DP GPU port. Also, check if it happens when using only IGPU—enable multi-display in your BIOS to allow both IGPU and GPU to function. If your Windows isn’t a fresh install and you upgraded from Windows 10, consider a clean installation or reinstall Windows 10. Another possibility is replacing the CMOS battery just in case.

Really, I completely missed that command and will give it a shot too, thanks! I’m hoping it’s not VBIOS—this GPU has one of those switches near the 12VHPWR and it was always in silent mode. I also have a Win10 NVMEC from an old PC, maybe I can try that instead!

fan speeds while using the device normally are typical, especially during rendering or gaming. When the monitors stop, the fans activate right away—likely because of the cables mentioned earlier. This applies to a fresh Win11 installation from several years ago, which was initially a Win10 upgrade during the early launch but faced problems. A complete reinstall later resolved another unrelated issue.
