PC shuts down unexpectedly or stops working intermittently.
Hello!
I recently purchased a mid to high-end PC and it has been performing well overall. However, I experience occasional crashes where the system freezes, making it impossible to use Ctrl+Del or perform any actions except a hard restart via the power button. Sometimes the PC also crashes completely, turning the screen black and then restarting after roughly a minute.
Here are the specifications:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700x
- CPU cooler: CM ML240L v2 RGB
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT
- Power supply: Fractal ION Gold 850W
- Motherboard: ASUS TUF gaming B650
- SSD: Kingston Fury Renegade PCIe M.2 1TB
- SSD: Kingston NV2 NVMe 1TB
- RAM: Kingston Fury Beast RGB DDR5 5600MHz 32GB (2x16GB)
I’ve attempted to recreate the issues, but so far nothing has worked. The crashes seem random and unpredictable. Since I’m not very experienced with computers, I’ve tried basic troubleshooting steps, including using DDU, but without success.
These crashes mostly occur during gaming sessions, especially while playing WoW and Diablo 4. I’ve lowered the graphics settings without success. CPU temperatures are around 65°C and spike to about 85°C, while the GPU temperature remains similar.
Could you please help me understand what might be causing these problems?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Hello there! Could you share your motherboard's BIOS version and whether it was assembled by you? Also, let me know the case's make and model.
The pc was constructed by a pc building company. Uncertain if I'm sharing this correctly, but I believe the BIOS version/date is American Megatrends Inc. 1414, 4/28/2023. The case is a cooler MasterMasterbox TD500 Mesh. The pc was purchased three months ago and is brand new.
I managed to recreate the crash today by logging into wow and navigating to opera gx, scrolling through a web page. I was checking the temperatures and found the GPU at 80 degrees and the CPU at 75 during the crash. I did take a video if possible, so you can share it here. Thank you for your time.
I changed one of my monitors from my setup to a single 34'' Samsung monitor, and I’m not experiencing any crashes. Anyone have suggestions or troubleshooting steps I can try? Since dual monitors were causing issues before, it’s helpful to know what to do. Thanks for any advice!
If anyone has issues like me, I swapped my RAM even though Memtest86 reported no errors after a four-hour test. Now I haven’t crashed in two weeks. I hope this helps someone else too.
