Hey, I just assembled everything for my new PC and still face problems. Here’s what I have: CPU – AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-core, Cooler – Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX 75 CFM, Motherboard – Asus ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING WIFI II ATX AM4, RAM – G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32 GB (2x16GB), DDR4-3600 CL16, total 64GB, Storage – Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB M.2-2280 NVMe, Drive – Seagate Barracuda Compute 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM, Video Card – Asus GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, ROG STRIX GAMING OC case, Power Supply – Corsair RMx 2021 1000W, Gold Certified.
I’ve set it up as a caseless test bench to see if it runs. It boots into BIOS, waits briefly, then freezes and crashes with a Q Code error (0D or 4D). DRAM or CPU LEDs light up when this happens. I’ve changed RAM, run without GPU, adjusted cooler tightness, re-seated CPU, updated BIOS, but it still fails halfway through.

The codes appear to show both 00 and 40 as potential CPU, RAM, or GPU issues on Asus's site. Everything seems properly seated with no broken or bent pins. It might be necessary to update the BIOS to ensure compatibility with the 5900X. Did you receive a starting POST screen that listed all expected components?
Actually, I don’t see that kind of screen. It just displays the BIOS with code A9, which is normal. I’m not sure how to fix it since the system crashes before any changes take effect. If the board includes a BIOS update option on the back, you can detach the RAM and GPU, then install the BIOS file onto a fat32 formatted memory stick without any additional software.

I've refreshed the bios and checked all options. The system still crashes with error codes 0d or 4d after a short time in BIOS.
It's time to handle the major RMA task. Does the 5900x support IGPU? If not, you can try a secondary GPU. If everything came from the same supplier, it would be simpler for them to check all parts together. Otherwise, each component needs to be sent back to its respective vendor for testing. Before sending, review the mainboard and CPU compatibility list to see which RAM models are actually supported.
