PC shuts down during stress tests with Furmark
Hi, I handle a lot of graphics cards for my side gig. Each time I buy or sell one, I run a Furmark stress test to check performance stability. This Powercolor red devil 5600xt seems unstable—its performance jumps from normal frame rates to freezing, then briefly returns after a few seconds. I thought it was overheating since the card felt hot at around 95°C, but now it’s cooler. The temperature is still in the mid-70s, and the GPU stays warm up to 90°C, though its temps drop when the card thaws. Memory temperatures are also elevated. The rest of the system is idle, RAM and storage are fine. I’ve attached a Furmark graph for reference. Also, 3DMark timespy showed a score of 5401, which should be much higher than 7000, yet it didn’t overheat. What could be causing this issue?
Sounds like the power output might be low. Make sure to verify the wattage. Otherwise, consider reaching out to NorthWestRepair.
Operated around 1700mhz on average, yet observed sudden drops to 100–300mhz briefly before returning to normal.
It appears the card is experiencing power delivery issues and requires maintenance.
